Common uses
Acebutolol Hcl is a beta blocker used to treat high blood pressure and an irregular heart rate. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by your physician.

Prior to Use
If you have angina or have had heart problems, do not suddenly stop using Acebutolol Hcl without first consulting your physician. Should your physician direct you to stop taking this prescription, gradually reduce your use, according to your physician\'s advice.. Be aware that pre-existing medical conditions, or taking additional medications could interfere with the effectiveness of this one. Let your physician or pharmacist know about any other medications -- prescription or over-the-counter -- that you are using. If you are taking any of the following, do not use Acebutolol Hcl: mibefradil. If you are taking any of the following, your dose or condition may need regular supervision: disopyramide, flecainide, hydralazine, indomethacin, or verapamil. Inform your physician of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. You should not take Acebutolol Hcl if you have a history of heart block. Contact your physician or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using Acebutolol Hcl.

Instructions for Use
Follow your physician's instructions for taking Acebutolol Hcl. It is best to keep Acebutolol Hcl away from heat and light, at room temperature. Should you skip or forget a dose of Acebutolol Hcl, begin using it immediately. If it is almost time for your next dose, omit the skipped dose and continue to follow your original dosing schedule. Never take more than one dose at the same time.

Warnings
Do not stop taking Acebutolol Hcl without checking with your physician. Before you have any medical or dental treatments, emergency care, or surgery, tell the physician or dentist that you are using Acebutolol Hcl. Acebutolol Hcl may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to Acebutolol Hcl. Before taking any new medicine, either prescription or over-the-counter, consult your pharmacist or physician . This includes any medicines used to treat colds or congestion. If your physician has instructed you to check your blood pressure and heart rate regularly, be sure to do so. Women, Acebutolol Hcl is excreted in breast milk. do not breast-feed while taking Acebutolol Hcl. FOR PATIENTS WITH DIABETES MELLITUS: Acebutolol Hcl may mask signs of low blood sugar such as a rapid heartbeat. Check blood glucose levels regularly.

Potential Side Effects
Side effects, that may go away during treatment, include mild drowsiness; lightheadedness or dizziness; or unusual tiredness or weakness. Consult your physician if they do not go away or if they bring you difficulties. Consult your physician immediately if you experience difficulty breathing. Let your physician, pharmacist, or nurse know if you experience any side-effects not listed here.

Drug interactions
Drug interactions can result in unwanted side effects or prevent a medicine from doing its job.

In Case of Overdose
Contact a poison control center or visit an emergency room immediately, if you think you have overdosed. Indications of an overdose are very slow heart rate, severe dizziness, fainting, weakness, and difficult or slowed breathing.

Do not let anyone else use Acebutolol Hcl. Do not take Acebutolol Hcl to treat health conditions other than what it was prescribed for. Store this and all medication away from the reach of children. If using Acebutolol Hcl for an extended period of time, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
