Chemical Name: PRENATAL VITAMINS (pree-NATE-al VYE-ta-mins), minerals, and DOCUSATE (DOK-yoo-sate)

Common uses
Advanced Natalcare is a vitamin and mineral combination used to treat or prevent a lack of vitamins or minerals before, during, and after pregnancy and while breast-feeding. Advanced Natalcare also contains a stool softener to prevent constipation due to hard stools.

Prior to Use
Be aware that pre-existing medical conditions, or taking additional medications could interfere with the effectiveness of this one. Let your physician or pharmacist know about any other medications -- prescription or over-the-counter -- that you are using. If you are taking any of the following, your dose or condition may need regular supervision: fluorouracil, certain seizure medicines such as phenytoin, levodopa, penicillamine, thyroid hormones, or antibiotics such as quinolone or tetracycline antibiotics. Do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval. Inform your physician of any other medical conditions or allergies. You should not take Advanced Natalcare if you have a history of megaloblastic or pernicious anemia. Contact your physician or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using Advanced Natalcare.

Instructions for Use
Follow your physician's instructions for taking Advanced Natalcare. Advanced Natalcare is best absorbed on an empty stomach. However, Advanced Natalcare may be taken with food if it upsets your stomach. Take Advanced Natalcare with a full glass of water. Try to avoid taking dairy products or antacids within 2 hours of taking Advanced Natalcare. Dairy products and antacids may interfere with the absorption of the iron found in Advanced Natalcare. Store Advanced Natalcare at room temperature in a tightly closed container, away from heat and light. Should you skip or forget a dose of Advanced Natalcare, begin using it immediately. If it is almost time for your next dose, omit the skipped dose and continue to follow your original dosing schedule. Do NOT take 2 doses at once.

Warnings
Do not use Advanced Natalcare if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6 years of age. In case of accidental overdose, call a physician or poison control center immediately. Keep all physician and laboratory appointments while you are taking Advanced Natalcare. Before you begin taking any new medicine, either prescription or over-the-counter, consult your pharmacist or physician .

Potential Side Effects
Side effects, that may go away during treatment, include nausea, vomiting, constipation, or diarrhea. Consult your physician if they do not go away or if they bring you difficulties. While you are taking Advanced Natalcare, you may notice darkening of bowel movements. This is normal. Consult your physician immediately if you experience stomach pain or cramping, or black tarry stools. Let your physician, pharmacist, or nurse know if you experience any side-effects not listed here.

Drug interactions can result in unwanted side effects or prevent a medicine from doing its job.

In Case of Overdose
Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under 6 years of age. In case of accidental overdose, call a physician or poison control center immediately. Contact a poison control center or visit an emergency room immediately, if you think you have overdosed. Indications of an overdose are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, loss of balance, and lack of feeling alert.

Do not let anyone else use Advanced Natalcare. Do not take Advanced Natalcare to treat health conditions other than what it was prescribed for. Store this and all medication away from the reach of children. If using Advanced Natalcare for an extended period of time, obtain refills before your supply runs out.
