Prior to Use
Let your physician or pharmacist know about any other medications -- prescription or over-the-counter -- that you are using. Inform your physician of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.
Instructions for Use
Ak-Tracin may be used around the eye or in the eye. TO USE THIS MEDICINE IN THE EYE: first, wash your hands. Pull the lower eyelid away from your eye to form a pouch. Squeeze a thin strip of ointment into the pouch. After using the medicine, gently close your eyes and keep them closed for 1 or 2 minutes. Wash your hands to remove any medicine that may be on them. Wipe the applicator tip with a clean, dry tissue. To prevent germs from entering the medicine, do not touch the applicator tip to any surface including the eye. Keep the container tightly closed. It is best to keep Ak-Tracin away from heat and light, at room temperature. In order to completely clear up your infection, continue using Ak-Tracin for the full course of treatment. Make sure that you do not skip a dose of Ak-Tracin. Should you skip or forget a dose of Ak-Tracin, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, omit the skipped dose and continue to follow your original dosing schedule.
Warnings
If your symptoms do not improve within a few days and consult your physician if they worsen. Ak-Tracin may cause blurred vision when you first put it in your eye. Do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you can see clearly. It is usually recommended that you do not wear contact lenses while using Ak-Tracin. Check with your physician before wearing them. Sterilize contact lenses according to manufacturer's directions.

A side effect, that may go away during treatment, is minor blurring of vision after using Ak-Tracin. If it continues or is bothersome, check with your physician. Let your physician, pharmacist, or nurse know if you experience any side-effects not listed here.
