Common uses
Alocril is an anti-allergy agent used to treat seasonal eye allergy symptoms. It may also be used to treat itching caused by eye allergies.

Prior to Use
Inform your physician or pharmacist of all prescription and over-the-counter medicines that you are taking. Inform your physician of any other medical conditions, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding.

Instructions for Use
Follow your physician's instructions for taking Alocril. Alocril comes with a patient information leaflet Read it carefully. Ask your physician, nurse, or pharmacist any questions that you may have about Alocril. TO USE THIS MEDICINE: first, wash your hands. Tilt your head back and with your index finger, pull the lower eyelid away from the eye to form a pouch. Drop the medicine into the pouch and blink a few times to be sure the whole eye is covered by the solution. Remove excess medicine around your eye with a clean tissue, being careful not to touch your eye. Wash your hands to remove any medicine that may be on them. Use Alocril regularly, unless otherwise directed by your physician. To prevent germs from entering your medicine, do not touch the applicator tip to any surface including your eye. Keep the container tightly closed. For best results, Alocril should be used regularly. Store Alocril at room temperature below 77 degrees F (25 degrees C), away from heat and light. Should you skip or forget a dose of Alocril, use it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, omit the skipped dose and continue to follow your original dosing schedule. Do NOT use 2 doses at once.

Warnings
It is usually recommended that you do not wear soft contact lenses while using Alocril. If you wear hard or gas permeable contact lenses, check with your physician before wearing them while using Alocril. Women, it is unknown if Alocril is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you are using Alocril, consult your pharmacist or physician to discuss the risks to your baby.

Potential Side Effects
Side effects that may occur while using Alocril include burning or stinging of the eye, or change in taste. Consult your physician if they do not go away or if they bring you difficulties. Contact your physician immediately if you experience the following side effects: coughing, wheezing, or difficulty breathing. Let your physician, pharmacist, or nurse know if you experience any side-effects not listed here.

Drug interactions
Drug interactions can result in unwanted side effects or prevent a medicine from doing its job.

In Case of Overdose
Contact a poison control center or visit an emergency room immediately, if you think you have overdosed. Alocril may be harmful if swallowed.

Additional information
If your symptoms do not improve and consult your physician if they worsen. Do not let anyone else use Alocril. Do not take Alocril to treat health conditions other than what it was prescribed for. Store this and all medication away from the reach of children.
