Common uses
Ami-Tex La is a decongestant and expectorant combination used to relieve congestion and to treat cough due to colds, flu, or hay fever. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your physician.

Prior to Use
Be aware that pre-existing medical conditions, or taking additional medications could interfere with the effectiveness of this one. Let your physician or pharmacist know about any other medications -- prescription or over-the-counter -- that you are using. Do not use Ami-Tex La if you are currently taking or have taken furazolidone or a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within the last 14 days. If you are taking any of the following, your dose or condition may need regular supervision: entacapone, guanadrel, guanethidine, bromocriptine, tolcapone, or tricyclic antidepressants (such as amitriptyline or nortriptyline). Do not start or stop any medicine without physician or pharmacist approval. Inform your physician of any other medical conditions including very slow or very fast heartbeat, overactive thyroid, heart disease, diabetes, enlarged prostate, difficulty urinating, glaucoma, allergies, pregnancy, or breast-feeding. You should not take Ami-Tex La if you have a history of severe high blood pressure, certain types of uncontrolled fast heartbeat (ventricular tachycardia), or severe coronary artery disease. Contact your physician or pharmacist if you have any questions or concerns about using Ami-Tex La.

Instructions for Use
Follow your physician's instructions for taking Ami-Tex La or on the package. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Swallow whole Do not crush or chew before swallowing. Ami-Tex La may be taken with food if it upsets your stomach. To help Ami-Tex La loosen congestion, drink a glass of water or other liquid with each dose of medicine unless directed otherwise by your physician. Store Ami-Tex La at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. If you miss a dose of Ami-Tex La and you are using it regularly, begin using it immediately. If it is almost time for your next dose, omit the skipped dose and continue to follow your original dosing schedule. Never take more than one dose at the same time.

Warnings
Do not use Ami-Tex La if you have had an allergic reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. Do not exceed the recommended dose of Ami-Tex La. Ami-Tex La may interfere with certain lab test results. Make sure that all of your physicians and laboratory personnel know that you are taking Ami-Tex La. Ami-Tex La may cause dizziness do not drive, operate machinery, or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how you react to Ami-Tex La. Using Ami-Tex La alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. Before you begin taking any new medicine either prescription or over-the-counter, consult your pharmacist or physician . This includes other cough-and-cold products. Do not use diet or appetite control medicines while you are taking Ami-Tex La without checking with your physician. If you have trouble sleeping, ask your pharmacist or physician about the best time to take Ami-Tex La. Caution is advised when using Ami-Tex La in children and the elderly because they may be more sensitive to the effects of Ami-Tex La. Women, if you plan on becoming pregnant, discuss with your physician the benefits and risks of using Ami-Tex La during pregnancy. Ami-Tex La is excreted in breast milk do not breast-feed while using Ami-Tex La.

Potential Side Effects
Side effects you may experience while using Ami-Tex La include nervousness, dizziness, trouble sleeping, nausea, or headache. Consult your physician if they do not go away or if they bring you difficulties. Contact your physician as soon as possible if you experience a rapid or pounding heartbeat or seizures. An allergic reaction to Ami-Tex La is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing. Let your physician, pharmacist, or nurse know if you experience any side-effects not listed here.

Drug interactions
Drug interactions can result in unwanted side effects or prevent a medicine from doing its job.

In Case of Overdose
Contact a poison control center or visit an emergency room immediately, if you think you have overdosed. Indications of an overdose are headache, dizziness, blurred vision, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, vomiting, drowsiness, hallucinations, confusion, and seizures.

Additional information
If your symptoms do not improve within 7 days or if you develop a high fever or persistent headache, check with your physician. Do not let anyone else use Ami-Tex La. Do not take Ami-Tex La to treat health conditions other than what it was prescribed for. Store this and all medication away from the reach of children.
